Guns/Ammo

While this is stating the obvious, you will need to take into account the amount of ammunition you plan on using at the range. This will depend on what your goals are, how much time you have, and how many different guns you are taking.

Hearing Protection

When shooting, you will need to have adequate hearing protection to preserve your hearing. Guns are very loud and when shooting at the gun range, you can damage your hearing if you do not wear hearing protection. Most ranges will require this as well.

Eye Protection

Much like hearing protection, eye protection is very important when visiting a gun range. As a requirement of most gun ranges, eye protection will protect your eyes from debris in the range. Eye protection should be worn at all times when shooting.

Identification

You will need to bring a valid ID with you for identification purposes at the range. Unless you have a members card, most ranges will require some type of photo identification.

Range Bag

A range bag is optional, but very handy to easily carry your guns, ammo, hearing/eye protection, and other items needed for the range.

Correct Clothing

While there usually isn’t a dress code for gun ranges, you will want to wear comfortable clothing to allow you to shoot safely. This will depend on when and where you go and what type of training you are doing.

Pen/Pad

A pen and pad is optional, but is great for taking notes while shooting. This is great for long distance rifle shooting.
